AtejiThese are specially difficult Kanji compounds because they use only Kanjis for their phonetic value (one of them). The individual Kanji meanings are usually discarded in these words so they seem to be nonsense. Sometimes with loan words, it's exactly the opposite (only the meanings are used, and then the phonetic value doesn't correspond to the actual readings).
